The role of the vessel is central to the story of Noah’s Ark: a symbol of salvation, creation, and provision, the ark carried Noah and his selected animals to safety from the destruction of the corrupt world. In According To Their Kind, boats represent arks. Like the animals, they are paired and tethered together. The arks reflect a human element, and imply the role of class in issues of selective breeding.
