Happy New Year! I’m thrilled to bring in 2020 with Arrangement for a Silent Orchestra at The Factory in Long Island City, NYC Jan 9 – Feb 7. I’m honored to collaborate with New York composer Alex Ring Gray for the opening reception Jan 9th, 5-8 pm, and an additional closing lunchtime performance Feb 7th.

Alex Ring Gray is a composer writing conceptually-driven works for both the concert hall and electronics. Gray works as an assistant for Philip Glass and studies under composers Julia Wolfe and Michael Gordon. The opening reception features two original works for string quartet centered around disintegration: I/O, a meditation on breath and decay, and Cut Piece, which invites the audience as participants to cut the strings from a quartet’s instruments, suspending the sound of the snaps indefinitely. I will join the quartet for a re-worked performance of Beethoven’s Romance in F Major, featuring electronic manipulations by Gray. https://alexringgray.com/

The exhibition and performances are free and open to the public. The members of the quartet are professional musicians. Please consider helping support the cost of their participation. All contributions received by Feb 7th will directly support the musicians and the exhibition in NYC. And, please share this post with anyone who may be interested. Thank you so much for your continued support! https://www.gofundme.com/f/arrangement-for-a-silent-orchest…
