Series II: Text

The text drawings in this series include excerpts from the Genesis story of Noah’s Ark and current documents on reproductive medicine and fertility. An influential story in Western folklore and religion, Noah’s Ark presents an ethical foundation for genetic selection. The selected passages pertain specifically to pairing and breeding, and criteria for selection. Excerpts are from the Holy Bible: Revised Standard Version. The current documents point to the issue of genetic selection in contemporary culture, where societal expectations and government incentives frequently encourage coupling along gender, ethnic, and class lines. Excerpts are from The American Society for Reproductive Medicine, The Fertility Institutes, and Fairfax Cryobank.
